About

Born in Trivandrum and brought up in Calicut, Kerala I have been surrounded by dance and music while growing up. I started learning Bharatanatyam at the age of 4 and I had my Arangetram (debut performance) at the age of 9. I then went on to learn Kuchipudi and Mohiniattam along with Bharatanatyam and performed across several stages in India.  I started learning Kathak and was part of the Abhinava Dance Company that toured across the country after moving to Bangalore. In 2010, marriage brought me to Dunedin; a move that became one of the defining turning points of my life. There, I founded the Natyaloka School of Indian Dance and built a flourishing career as a performing artist. In 2024, I relocated to Perth, where I continue my journey as an independent artist and dedicated Bharatanatyam and Mohiniyattam practitioner.

This blog spotlights artists, scholars, and creative practitioners who forge their own paths, often outside the mainstream. I aim to share their unique voices and visions, and also write performance reviews that reflect diverse, multicultural perspectives beyond the usual Western lens.
